If you're a fan of fantasy, but find wizards and magic a little too heavy, then you'll enjoy this. You'll encounter vampires, werewolves, and other preternatural creatures but the story takes place in modern time, like now, so it's easier to follow along. Anita Blake is tough, pretty, and a hard core feminist, just all too good to sound true, but the humour that's included in her personality makes it forgivable. This is the ninth book
in this series, so you might want to read several previous books to get a better understanding of the events leading up to this one. It's fun reading, with a little romance mixed with lots of actions.
