Hard to use

This book is one of the most well-known references on Korean. It is quite good for phonetics, phonology and sociolinguistic aspects of the language (I suppose; I did not make extensive use of these parts of the book, but they were quite lengthy), though rather descriptive in nature. The section on syntax I found quite opaque, however. The author takes no theoretical positions on e.g. morphological structure, which was probably intentional but makes his position difficult to read. Also, the discussion focuses on lists of words (I felt), and is of less value for someone who wants insight into the structure of the language.
